FESTIVAL ARTISTS FAQ

There is a lot of info on this page for artists who are participating in the Foothills Fine Arts Festival during ARTSWEEK GOLDEN. Hopefully, we've covered everything, however, feel free to reach out if you have additional questions that aren't covered here by emailing info@artsweekgolden.org.


Where/when do I load in/out?

Artists LOAD-IN is available on Friday, July 12 from 10am to 5pm and Saturday, July 13 from 6:30am to 9:30am. Artists can drive right up to their booth location and unload on the street, however, all artists must enter at 12th and Cheyenne. One-way traffic for LOAD-IN enters on 12th and Cheyenne only and exits on the north and south end of Arapahoe Street.

The festival starts promptly at 10am and all artists are expected to be fully set up by this time. Volunteers will be on hand to assist artists so that we may keep traffic moving. Please park your vehicle after unloading to make way for others.

The festival ends at 5pm on July 14. Hopefully, people won't want to leave and are still buying quality art! If that's the case then break down of booths can begin as soon as visitors leave and the all-clear is given by FAC Staff. Artists may not close down prior to the event officially closing.

Where will non-artists vendor booths be placed?

This is the Foothills Fine ARTS Festival. ARTS. We don’t believe in selling windows, vinyl siding, hammocks, or insurance at an arts festival. We don’t have anything against these products, we love hammocks and windows. However, we don’t think they belong at an ARTS festival.


What is the best way to market the festival through email

We encourage participating artists to send a few emails to your personal contact lists using an email marketing tool such as MailChimp, Emma, or Constant Contact. Or you can just use your personal email list as well!

Use photos of your art, and our logos on the press page to make your emails pop. Make sure you include a link to www.artsweekgolden.org as well as your booth number so your fans know where to find you. 

Create a system to collect emails while you are here in Golden. A lot of the credit card processing software you already have access to is able to collect emails from paying customers. You can also use a simple method of having a paper sign-up sheet. 


What is the best way to market the festival through social media?  

Savvy artists already know that social media platforms are a great way to engage audiences. Foothills Art Center actively uses Facebook and Instagram to engage our fans on social media and we'll be using these during ARTSWEEK GOLDEN and the Foothills Fine Arts Festival to amplify events during the week. 

If you post on social media be sure to tag @FoothillsArtCenter. Share our posts to your networks and help us spread the word.


What is the best way to market the festival through print?

If you have a physical mailing list then a postcard is the best way to go. Use your favorite graphic design program and be sure to include our logos from the press page, a link to the event page at www.artsweekgolden.org, a link to your artists website, your booth number, and images of your artwork.

Foothills Art Center uses 1 Stop Printing in Golden. They do all of our print publications at a really great price. Worth checking out. 


What are my tax requirements? 

As a vendor in Foothills Fine Arts Festival you are required to collect sales tax of 7.5% for all goods sold during the two day festival. State sales tax of 4.5% on revenue from goods sold will be remitted by the Artists to the state of Colorado. The state Special Event form should be completed even if you currently have a state sales tax license. There is no fee associated with the state application if you already have a state sales tax license. If you do not have a state sales tax license, the fee is $8 for one event. City of Golden sales tax is 3% and Foothills Art Center, as the event sponsor, will collect city sales tax from you on Sunday at the end of the event and remit it to the City of Golden. The process for sales tax remittance is below:


City of Golden sales tax remittance to Foothills Art Center 

  • Collect sales tax of 3% on the sale of goods during the festival (state and city sales tax = 7.5%)

  • Complete the Temporary Sales Tax Remittance Form at the end of the event

  • Pay Foothills Art Center the amount of City of Golden sales tax collected via check, cash or credit card (Foothills will streamline the collection process)

  • There is no reporting to the City of Golden directly by the vendors in the Festival


State of Colorado forms and remittance

  • Complete the State of Colorado Sales Tax Special Event Application and mail it and a fee (if required) to the address on the form.

  • Collect Sales tax of 4.5% on the sale of goods during the festival.

  • Remit Sales tax by filing the  State of Colorado Special Event Sales Tax Return by mail or online at www.Colorado.gov/RevenueOnline  by August 20, 2019.

I need to rent booth supplies! Do you have a resource for that? 

Altitude Event Services rents tents to artists that satisfy our requirements spelled out in the artist agreement. You can find them here: http://altitudeeventrentals.com. Foothills Art Center is not affiliated with this company....just a resource we are aware of.

I have an RV. Where can I park it? 

Here are some links to nearby locations that can accommodate RV's. 

You will likely find more locations by searching the web. DO NOT bring an RV if you do not have plans for parking it. We do not have accommodations for RV’s, campers, etc.
